Well, here's the dilemma:

I'm going to redo my bed wood. I want it to look nicer (anything is an improvement) but still be useful and tough. Shirley will be seeing lots of use shortly. I was thinking new wood (pine), shiny zinc hardware and line-x the wheel wells, bed walls, and strips - either black or color match. What do you guys think?

Any Photoshoppers care to lend their gifts? (ahem, Kenneth, ahem)

I like the one jostrans68 posted... but he's right about hauling stuff. First turn at the end of the block your load will shift and you will have to pull over and cry

For any kind of real world use, I think you should go with a spray-in liner of some sort. They're not as showy as the wood, but the good ones are practically indestructible.

Now if we could just get some kind of group buy on the spray-in liners...

pine is a very soft wood you need to use a tougher wood. I cant remember the kind of wood you should use but its the kind of wood they use on the wood flatbed trucks they haul lumber around in. I would ask a truck builder or see what the kind of wood the wood kits come in and use that if you intend to use the truck for any kind of hauling though

A guy up the street did his using treated plywood. I helped a little bit. It took two sheets but then there was about a 2-3 inch strip he had to add at one end because the 8' wood is too short. He painted the whole inside of the bed sides, tubs, and strips with dark gray hammerite, put in the wood, then just laid the strips on top of the new greenish colored wood, with new zinc-plated carraige bolts. Most people aren't going to notice that the bed strips aren't inlaid. Money was his main concern, along with utility, but it actually looks nice, I'd walk up the street and take a pic, the truck sits outside, but it started snowing an hour ago.
