cant fit 22"s on 68 c10 swb rear hubs
Hello peeps, so I came across some 22" 6 lug wheels off of a 2001 yukon. I installed the two fronts and let me tell you..it looks tuff. ( pictures are on there way). I am trying to install the rears but the center wheel hub is about 1/2 inch bigger than the center hub hole on the wheels..Any ideas as to what I need? Can I just grind the rear spindle hub flat? I am on a budget here so replacing the wheels is not an option! Thanks to all....Note: I have researched but cant find nothing on the rears just the fronts.. Thanks 2 all

i am suprised that you got them over the front hub i tried to install a set of stock 17s off of a tahoe on my 67 but i wouldnt grind down the the center. i would look for a different set of 6 lug drums for the rear.

Well the front has a disc brake set up now so that when in perfect... The drums in the rear are not the problem its the I think its called hub where the lug bolts are. The center piece is a 1/2 to big to fit the center bore on the wheels...

I wouldnt grind down the center hub. Do you have enough room that you could space them out just enough to clear the rear hub? There are several companies that make billet spacers that are hub centric to both the axle and the wheel, so you still get the stability of being hub centric, and you would get more of a flush fittiment on your wheel.

Take your axles out and take them to the machine shop to have hubs turned down. It might cost $80?

Re: cant fit 22"s on 68 c10 swb rear hubs
im getting a set of wheels from a 2001 as well, they were on a bagged chevy so i think the offset will be ok, but i have not tried them on yet but will, i'm planning to do disc brakes all around but we will see for now i want to put the wheels on but dont think its gonna happen with the hubs, i was going to widen the wheel hubs but not sure on the safety? i got a machinst to do it for $40 each when im ready.

Re: cant fit 22"s on 68 c10 swb rear hubs
I guess the easiest thing to do would be to find a place that can make the wheel bore a bit bigger..My wheels are currently not hub centric and I have not yet had any problem with them being lug centric...I have to find a local shop here in orange county ca that can do this.. Any ideas ?thanks to all!

Re: cant fit 22"s on 68 c10 swb rear hubs
i ran into the same problem on my 69 with the newer wheels. i took them to a custom wheel shop or a wheel shop that fixes curbed or bent wheels and they put them on a machine and drilled out the center bore on the wheels. think it was like 40 a wheel?
good luck and wheres the pics!!!!

Re: cant fit 22"s on 68 c10 swb rear hubs
Yeah I found a local shop in Orange County that will make the wheel bore bigger for me for $40 a wheel... Now the only problem is that my truck is to low. I put the front wheels on and it looked great, only problem was that the tires were rubbing enough that I cant turn my wheels but it looks great lol. I am on a budget so new tires are out of the question.

Group, I too am planning to mount Chevy Tahoe 20" on my 68 C10. Has anyone resolved rubbing issues and Wheel clearance on dropped early C10's? Please share success formulas with us. Thanks

Awesome response and plain enough language that even I (ASE Certified Tech) can understand. Thanks -a-million. I will order my BAER 4 wheel Disc setup and have a solution for wheel fitment when we cross that bridge.
Awesome!
