New Checkmate lid on almost-done truck
I ordered this flush hard cover from Checkmate last Monday, picked it up at my local freight office yesterday, installed it in about an hour today. Very easy, so far. Only issue is the seal at the rounded bed front has a 1/8" gap and will leak unless I add more gasket material.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to 'electrify' the key lock on the lid so I can use one of my spare buttons on the remote to 'pop' it. Things-to-do list: dubs, run exhaust out back, exterior paint......gas and go! Planning a 500 mile break-in (hopefully not break-down) trip to go to the Columbus Goodguys show next month.

looking good there. the last time i saw pics of your truck was when you did a mock up of the rear pillars. looking great. Are those sensors in the 2 holes in your roll pan?

ol skool 68 - I loaned out my digicam, I'll post shots as soon as I get it back. Unfortunately, I'm still running on unmatched 'junk yard' 15" stock wheels. Shopping around for the 20s. jay-dawg - Very observant!! No, they are the recessed backup lights. I kinda ran out of room (rear clearence) in the taillight area and bit the bullet and chopped the 1 1/2" holes in the pan. Didn't wanna do it, but I felt since this was going to be my 'almost' daily driver, I needed the backups. Hmmmm, maybe one of them should be a backup video camera.....but then I'd need an LED screen......Hmmmm, where's that Sawzall????

The taillights are from BuyTruckStuff . They are supposed to be on the trailer part of a big rig, but the price was right and I kinda liked the shape with the bubbled texture. And, they ARE bright! The sheet metal thet they are mounted in is about 3 weeks of custom work (and a lot of cussin' by the owner).

pan & lights
did you buy your rear pan or custom make it, if bought where did you get it and do you think your lights would look alrite flange mounted in the roll pan, thought about also using their 2" back up lights in the roll pan. what do ya think?

Pan, tailgate and bed is from Mar-K. Watch mounting the lights on the pan. With the steep roll on some pans, you have to adjust the mounting to allow for an angle so your lights don't aim towards the ground.

What do you think about the quality and fit of the Checkmate over a Gaylord cover? Was it price that helped in your decision?

nosto, I've had my Checkmate for a couple of years. Their not real water proof, but I don't drive mine in the rain anyway. When you put in the locks, don't tighten them down much as the underside fiberglass will compress. I almost blew it on that. I picked the checkmate because I wanted the flush fit and it's been great.
Ed-I didn't pick the checkmate over the Gaylord's because of price.....I just like the way it looked better. The Gaylord's is probably more water tight.

I try to stay away from PCs on non-rainy weekends....
Anyhow, XXL - they all light up at the same time, then when you hit the brake/turn, they all get brighter. Surprizingly uniform for 12 LEDs. Still trying to make pics of the light pattern at night. So far all I get is a bright smear. Time to get the tripod out. JeffM - Thanks for the tip on the lock(s). I went with a single centered lock, and called them for any kind of hints. It seems pretty easy, but they didn't mention about tightening the lock too tight. Truck will be parked in garage, only driven a few days/week, so I don't expect any problem with rain, either. MOTHERTRUCKERS - Price was a major factor, I was quoted $850 for a Gaylords in my local area, which I thought was way too much.
