Argent Bumpers, Argent Hubcaps, Argent Wheel as well?

Got to looking at my '69 GMC while working on it this weekend. I assumed the wheels were painted white. The wheels have a bunch of scratches and surface rust, But as I studied them weekend, they looked like they might be a metallic grey? It's hard to tell, but since other items that were painted white for '67-69 (like in the title here) got the silver treatment I got to wondering if that went for the wheels as well.

Were all base painted surfaces for the 1969 GMC argent?

I think wheels for both Chevy and GMC in 69 were silver.
One year deal.

Just for clarification, we are only talking the 69 1/2 tons. Right? I know the 3/4 tons were white.

Our 69 C10 had white wheels. Here is a picture from when it was new.

Re: Argent Bumpers, Argent Hubcaps, Argent Wheel as well?

I was thinking the argent color was just an early 69 thing, then they went to white mid year???? but I could be wrong? I have an NOS argent hub cap and it had written on the back a part # and says early style

Thanks, I missed that. As stated in my post above, my 69 3/4 ton had white wheels from day one. The truck was produced in Dec. 1968 and had 16.5" wheels. It is a CST. Perhaps the earlier trucks had argent as Joesjunk suggested above. Another thought would be that, perhaps, the lower trim levels with painted bumpers did, but that would surprise me. Could it have been a GMC vs. Chevy thing?

My 70 GMC had silver 16.5's as well, so it may be a GMC thing.

Re: Argent Bumpers, Argent Hubcaps, Argent Wheel as well?

I believe it may be like '68 where it depended on the color of the truck. I didn't realize '70s could have argent trim.I was focused on hubcaps when I said '69-only.
Here's a collection of original hubcaps (except the 67/68 with yellow accent). Still looking for the '69 Chevy & GMC 1/2t caps:

Re: Argent Bumpers, Argent Hubcaps, Argent Wheel as well?

I have this NOS cap number 3944966 which shows for 1969. I was under the impression the more base model trucks got this color in 69. I assume the cap listed for 70 would be white.

I think it's a gmc thing. My 68 bare bones truck was origional paint, light green , seems like origional paint on the silver rims and front bumper.

In that picture I showed,the two argent caps on the right are a '69 C/20 (upper) and a '68 C/10 (lower),both Chevy.

Here are some '69 C/10 hubcaps:

My grandpa bought a 1968 GMC short bed fleetside base model new and it had the silver wheels, hubcaps, grill, and front bumper. I know because I still have the truck.

Those 5 are the only ones I have out of the wrappers. I don't want to open the others,so I need to keep these for showing pictures and the others just so I can say I have hundreds of N.O.S. hubcaps unopened...sorry

GOTCHA!! (or not at all?) I wish. Those aren't mine

Re: Argent Bumpers, Argent Hubcaps, Argent Wheel as well?

Wow! I guess my notification didnt work for a while on this post. Lots of responses, thanks! It strikes me that officially Chevy stayed while, whil GMC went to argent. However, it is not beyond possibility that colors could be switched according to availability. Grab what was in stock, or for inventory reduction on the line.

Now, does anyone have the color code for the argent, or suggestions for the touch-up paint? One of my caps is white, probably painted over. and the bumpers and all my rims could use freshening...

Thanks again, from the Bluegrass tundra!

Did you read the whole thread? It was Chevy and GMC,not officially only GMC. That's why I showed all the Chevy hubcaps in argent
