My bed is a pond
65 LWB fleet. My bed is holding water after a rain. A lot of water. It will drain really slowly over a couple of days (drip at a time) as well as evaporate. The bed is a bit canted so it pools in the front passenger corner. I guess I need a drain hole. Should I put it through the corner of the wood, the front panel, or the bed side?

Had a quick search for "water in bed" and found someone with a similar issue on a 67-72. Looks like there is supposed to be drain holes in those trucks, so I'll replicate them on mine.

I'd go through the wood. Steel will rust after drilling. Best to go in the 3/4" range so you can poke your finger through now and then when it begins to clog up with leaves and such. Both sides of the box so it can drain either side.

Never had that problem! Partly cause the wood in my GMC's bed is 50 years old!

Yeah, my bed wood is actually plastic TREX. Great for outdoors, also great at being waterproof... guess I should have cut a couple boards short! lol

Jay do you park on a downslope? When you cut your trex did you follow Paul's measurements? They call for a drain channel every so often.
I'm considering options for doing my bed and was thinking about trex so I'm interested in this pooling problem.

I have never had that problem but that is probably because it no longer rains in Los Angeles.

Level ground, but my truck is slightly tilted to the front like most stock suspension long boxes.
 Yes, used GMC Paul's cuts. Don't remember any drain cuts, just the cuts for the strips.
