Need some advice installing trim

I need to drill the holes in my new bedsides for the upper and lower trim. My question is what is the best way to line up the trim. Also what is the best method for drilling the holes. Since all the rest of the trim is on the truck, can I just snap a chalk line off of it and use that as a center line for the bed? Im just afraid of denting these thinner than stock repro besides when drilling the holes. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I used a chalk line on mine and just drilled one hole on each end and used the adhesive clips in between. Seemed to work OK for me. Just use a new drill bit and take it slow.

A stepped unibit is helpful when drilling the holes.

I never used chalk line, sounds like it would work. I have used low tack masking tape or vinyl tape to get the line right and to make my drilling marks. You didn't say in the origional question weather the bed was painted yet. If it is maybe trying running some masking tape on the bed side prior to chalking, marking and drilling to protect the paint.
I also use a tool called Center Rite to punch a mark to prevent the bit from walking.

I would put some masking tape down prior to running the chalk line, especially if the truck is already painted.

Also, remember that the upper bed trim doesn't run straight with the rest of the upper trim. It angles down at the rear just enough to line up with the upper tailgate trim, and follows the body line just above it. Some people raise the rear, but I prefer the factory look.
