"64 GMC being pieced together in AZ.

I never really enjoyed this body style until I ran on to this truck and had to have it. I wrote it off after the previous owner turned down my offer. 2 weeks later I was craming a "59 Apache through a small gate on the side of my house and I got a call back accepting my offer, at this point i didnt need it...next day it was mine. Thought I would share some pics.

Re: "64 GMC being pieced together in AZ.

I already had a nice little 283/t350 to use,red/white guts, maybe some chrome smoothies minus the moons with bullet centercaps and wrapped in some ganster whitewalls. Really wanna keep it clean, straight, "ol skool" and close to original as possible. Later I will come in and do disks, power steering, etc for my wife. It will be on the freeways here and will need to perform at higher speeds and longer distances. It wont be a show truck, just a driver.

sounds like it will be cool, and the hard part of body and paint is already done !! may think of a 700r if you want to go freeway..I had a 283/th350 and it was ok but the 700R was much better on gas and quieter on the highway

Re: "64 GMC being pieced together in AZ.

A 700r4 is an option for sure. This truck came with the inline 6 so im sure its geared low. I can do that when i do the suspension i guess since the cross member is the same. I do plan on building a beefy motor for it in the future..especially after the suspension mods are done. Not to abuse it, just to have it when i need it and to enjoy the sound of some flowmasters, healthy cam and stall. I just want to get some use out of it from the parts i already had laying around. Space is tight over here and i already gathered some parts for my "59 before i got this truck. I'll try to use what I can on each truck and let nothing go to waste.

I have a 283 with a 3:73 rearend and yes its a little loud but then again i have straight pipes that exit in front of the tires. More than likely though you either have a 3:73 rearend or 4:11's with that six lug rearend.
