Anybody know what the part number is for the brake hoses in a ECE front disc kit?

Purchased a complete front disc brake kit for my 1968 Chevy C10 from ECE just a few months before they disappeared.

The part number on the ECE generic wrapper that the front brake hose came in says BH345-14 5/8 but I tried looking online for that part number and cannot find anything like it. Dont know why ECE wouldnt have just put a real part number on it so a person could find a replacement later.

Re: Anybody know what the part number is for the brake hoses in a ECE front disc kit?

Is your truck dropped with ECE's 2.5" in front? My truck is. I purchased 3-4 sets of after-market brake hoses, likely one is/was part number 88466. The RH side looks right to me. As for the LH side, this is what it looks like, it aint right. I think it means the hose is too short. I'm having some made, because I prefer the brass look and replacement fittings don't quite fit into the slots in the cross member. At the moment I don't know how long they're supposed to be for this application.

I suspect what's advertised as 72ish replacement brake hoses are really built for 1973 applications. That or the caliper fittings were changed in 72, but if I recall that occurred in 73. The slots in the cross member may have changed in 73 as well.

Available calipers are basically the 73 version (or 72), variance being for the hose fitting at the caliper. In other terms, brake hose & caliper replacement parts for a "1971" C10 are really for a 1973..............ish

Anyways the 88466 are not the same ones that ECE supplies in their kit.

I converted my 68 to disc brakes and those hoses matched the factory lines perfectly. Not sure why yours didn’t

Apparenty my all original factory 1968 Chevy C10 is exactly like the one in the thread in which the guy had to grind the opening to match that brake hose. I just looked at another 1968 Chevy C10 this morning and his hose bracket is exactly like mine and original to the truck as well.

I will post a pic of the ECE brake hose and the 88466 side by side to show why it does not work on a factory 1968 brake hose bracket located on the top rear of the upper control arm.

My point is that the lines WILL connect and you will have functional disc brakes. If you don’t want to use a rasp file and open up the hole in the bracket slightly then I guess they won’t work for you. I didn’t “hack up” my crossmember, these hoses fit there as they should and lock in place. I don’t plan on reverting back to drum brakes so it wasn’t a big deal to me. These hoses are an off the shelf solution, which I prefer to aftermarket/specialist parts from companies that will eventually go out of business. If you have ECE’s hoses on there now they will most likely last beyond your lifetime. The 50 year old hoses on my drum brakes were still working when I converted to disc. Hopefully someone else has discovered an off the shelf hose that is identical to the one ECE sold but one does not exist as far as I know. They were probably specially made which would explain them costing $50 a pair. Good luck in your search.

Yes you are correct that anything can be modified to fit. I also agree that most likely ECE had these hoses specially made for their kit even though one of their selling points was everything in their kit was a factory piece that could be replaced with over the counter parts when needed.
