Carrier Suport Bearing question

I have a 71 chevy long bed that has a carrier bearing and replaced it. Things were fine for a few days and it started to squeal and make a faint noise while driving. Now that the weather is hot and I do mean hot it has been squealing a lot and in reverse also. I am begining to think the yoke is to tight which is causing it to squeal. Since I couldn't get it apart myself I had a local shop do it. Any help will be greatfull. It sounds like crap with my truck looking this great.

Remove the straps at the diff...put the trans in nuetral( Block the wheels!! ) and spin the shaft. If it doesn't spin freely, or you hear any noise, remove it...take it back and make them do it right.

Wait...you replaced it yourself or did someone else do it?

Either way did you/whoever did it leave the little disk shaped dust shields out when they put the new bearing in? If they're still in they need to come out. They weren't supposed to go back in. The new bearings don't need the shields, and all they'll do is rub against the rubber boot and make a lot of noise.

Thanks, it sounds like that's what the problem is. From what I can remeber on my 66 chevy it did'nt have the dust shield. and I replaced those also with no problem. Now if the heat just will go away.
