Tires for my '67 lwb C-10 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am looking for some tires to put on the rear of my '67 C-10. I have 235/70r15's on all four right now, but the back looks silly with those little tires on it. I also want taller tires in the rear to help lower my rpm's as I have 4.11's in the rear. The rims I have on there are 15x8 steel rally wheels. If I need to put bigger rims on the back I can do that but would prefer to keep the same ones. Any reccomendations on a tire size that would fill up the wheel well, not rub, and look good???

275/60R15 Yokohama Avid S/T's if your truck is mostly street driven. They're like Radial T/A's, with less suck and more rock

255/60/15 fronts and 275/60/15 rears here. Oh btw they are BFG's

I've never had a problem with either sets of radial t/a's that i've had. Then again I drive like a grandpa everywhere I go.

If you are looking for something larger in diameter to bring down your rpm, then you have few options. Your current tires are 28" tall. They are the same diameter as the 275/60's (which I find to be about the perfect size tire for the rear of anything based on the width and diameter). If you really want to go taller, then you could go to a 285/70, which has a diameter of 30.8", or a 255/70 with a diameter of 29.1".

To elaborate a bit...I've found the traction differences between the Radial T/A and the Avid S/T to be night and day. There is a definite advantage with the S/T's in the dry, and wet...well, there's simply no comparison. With the T/A's, I've had the tail end try to swing around under light throttle when there was a puddle! The S/T's just keep on sticking.

On top of that...my T/A's were done at about 15,000 miles. The S/Ts have nearly that many and have at least half of their tread left.
