Needing 63 stepside longbed fender info

In 63 was there two different length longbed stepsides. I am thinking about buying my old K20 back but never measured the bed since it had utility boxes mounted where the fenders were. Which makes me wonder if there are two different length long beds then does that mean that the fenders and steps would be different too. If there is only one length long bed then no worries. I will just have to find a set of fenders and steps.

For some reason I was thinking that they made an 8 foot and a 9 foot bed.

I think your right. I know that there were 8&9' steppers made.
But I don't know if 60-66 had them or exactly when they started offering them in both.

Just trying to do my research. Like I said I am thinking about buying back my old K20 firetruck and will probably put it back to a step side.

I've seen both the 8' & 9' step beds, the 9 footers being extremely rare even when new. I don't have any specification drawings, but just going on memory I'm thinking they both used the same long bed steps and fenders and the extra foot on the 9' chassis is behind the fenders.

Thanks Mark, that is what I looking for. I thought I would keep an eye out for some fenders and steps but just wasn't sure if they were both the same size or different.

This isn't a real good photo here. But these are the same era trucks but the fenders are different on both in the photo. The one on the right are those fenders on a different year. They look different from the one on the left or in front of it and also the gap between the rear of the fender and the tailgate is different.

The size and angle of the photo makes it hard to tell if the one on the right is a cut out spare tire fender, even though the bracket seems to be there. Also, it could be that if both are in fact spare tire fenders, one fender could be from a short bed and one from a long bed.

Spare tire rear fenders are different between long and short bed trucks. On a short bed the tire is higher up and farther back. On a long bed the spare is lower and closer to the cab. The easiest way to determine if it's a long or short bed fender is by the distance between the step and the bottom of the tire cutout. An example is shown on post #11 on the following thread:
