Questions about donor cars/trucks,for the ole spuare
So im wanting to get a serpentine setup for the ole girl, and was wondering what a good donor car was. Also a electric fan as well. If it helps I have a SBC. Was wanting to know if there's a setup that will bolt right up with minimal mods,if there is one. I know some of you guys run these setups, what's the pros and cons to them, and maybe you fellows could post some pics of your setups. Appreciate any info you guys could share with us.
Thanks Mike Posted via Mobile Device |

Any serp system off a small block or 4.3 v6 will bolt right on just make sire to change the water pump and cooling fan as the serp system turns the pump the opposit direction of the v belt set up

Re: Questions about donor cars/trucks,for the ole spuare
When I did that on my 85 , I tried the electric fans, more a pain in the butt than it was worth (IMO) when I got the reverse rotation water pump that is required changing, I got one of those 11 blade plastic fans off of a new truck and that was great, loved it.

Re: Questions about donor cars/trucks,for the ole spuare
4.3 V6 or 5.7 in the GM 88-99 CK (T400 chassis like my avatar) or 4.3 V6 in some of the ST trucks.
Get all of the belt driven accessories from the donor including the water pump (for a core) and the thermostatic clutch fan. You will have to get the alternator plug that matches your donor unit. The better AD244 series alternators were installed on some of the later T400 chassis trucks. It's a better unit than the SI or CS. The AD series are higher output and cooler running. It's almost a bolt-on install in the CS brackets but if you can get a setup off a late 90's Vortec it'll already be there.
