valve tick
300 miles into my rebuild, got some nice valve ticking, and it shifts 1-2 (powerglide/holley, vac based) way soon.
How to fix? |

Re: valve tick
VALVE TICK: do you know for sure that you have good oil pressure? How were the valve adjusted? are you sure it is a valve tick? There is a very good way to adjust the valves with the engine not running, that has been posted here by me and others. It is the way that I adjust valves an SBC chevys.
I would assume that the powerglide has a replacement vacuum modulator in it. If you pull the vacuum line off of the modulator and look inside the vacuum fitting you should see a slot to put a small screw driver. might suggest truning it in I THINK a turn or two and see if it makes the shifts later. |

Re: valve tick
take your valv cover off and see if there are any rocker arms that are sloppy and tighten it up a little bit , but not too much.
