Backwoods Garage Progress

Well after Asa has got everyone wondering,I finally got to do something major to the truck. Thanks to asa(seeten), alittle help from my son,and Early Classic. Gotter lowered. The drop was diffently what the truck need!(My opion) 2 1/2" drop spindle and 5" drop spring in the rear. Not as low as asa's truck
but Its what I wanted. (Makes the truck look level.) I would like to thank everyone on the board for all the info that is posted here,It has really been helpful and I know it will help with other projects I will be doing!!!! Here's a few pics of a little progress!

Here's a before and after pic, Asa will most likely post a few more pic he took later!

Very nice! The stance is much better now, that's the exact drop I have planned for my truck so that gives me a good idea of what to expect.

Re: Backwoods Garage Progress

The guys at ECE told him this was an uncommon drop combination but I think it works quite well. The front springs were also replaced with new factory height units. We managed to work this drop in over the course of two evenings after working on the assembly line for 10hrs a day. Dropped the rear one night and the front the next. I think the operation came in at about 4hrs.

Gotcha!

Busted!

That's a perfect drop for that size tire, it fills the wheel wells nicely. Good work guys.

Takes away the colors from our sight,

Re: Backwoods Garage Progress

Great lookin trucks,
What drop did you do to the green truck? 3/3 or 3/5? There I go looking at the pictures again and not reading, I know 2 1/2 front and 5 back.

Re: Backwoods Garage Progress

Nice goin fellas. Just what that truck needed. Not so low as to be impractical but plenty low enough to be noticed and stock front springs too. It'll handle the speed bumps ok. And letting the next generation get his hands dirty too. Attaboy.
Hey Asa. You take pics for the magazines too?

Re: Backwoods Garage Progress

Yep, he's starting the boy out right I do believe! If I'm not mistaken they are already looking for a project that will be his son's driver when he comes of age. And those shots of him with the air tools weren't posed for, his son really works on things with him. I think he has had him operating a welder for a couple years already.

Re: Backwoods Garage Progress

I like the level look as well. How does the truck ride? The front would obviously be fine using stock springs, but how about the rear? I thought I read about dropping over 2 inches using just springs would make for a poor quality ride, how do you find it?

Well I drove it home for him after he had it aligned and I thought it had a really good ride. Of course I'm used to driving one that's dropped 6" out back (which seems to be a little stiffer, but still a good ride). I don't think he's driven it since it's been aligned but he might jump in here with an answer for you.
