the only way that i can think of doing it is to use a cherry picker. any other ideas?

thats the way i've always done it a couple of blankets on the fenders hook the hoist by the latch and walk it into place // WORKS GOOD

grow more arms maybe? I took one off by myself...

If you have your brackets mounted and in the up position then you might have a shot, but plan on scratching things. I have sat mine on the truck by myself but haven't mounted it yet. I'm also 6'3 and a big guy and it nearly whipped me.

I've done it myself used broom handle to hold up. Scratched alot of paint. Cussed a little. Next time I bought 6 pack and invited neighbor over. Whipped me and I'm 5'7" and stocky. Silverback type

I've always used a broom stick and did it myself, never a scratch. Throw a blanket or your jacket or something at the bottom of the hood on the cowl, lift it up and over, prop it up with the broom stick, then carefully bolt it, lower while loose, slowly try co close it, and line it all up.

I do it the same way Longhorn Man does.I have 5 boys but always wind up doing it by myself.Seems I can never find the boys when I need them.

im 5' 11" 175lbs i did it for the first time with no stratch anything (the paint is CHITY!) the only problem i had was figuring out a way to tie the rope so it would stay when it was up in the air and being moved around. i think im going to make a.... for lack of better words a tool like a capital H with 4 magnets that have a rubber coat over them so i wont scratch anything when i get her all painted up. it does have surface rust in quite a lot of places but only one place on the lip over the windshield on the passanger side has cancer and from what i can tell it is going to be an easy fix.

i've used a block and tackle with some clips and just suspended it above and drove the truck under it

Ok here is the way I have done it. 1 remove inner fenders. 2 remove all but 1 bolt from each hood hinge where they atach to the fender. 3 move the hinges down to where they are paralle to the fender. 4 cover fenders with heavy blankets to keep from scratching. 5 lay hood on hinges. 6 put bolts in one hinge to hood bracket. 7 put bolts in other hinge bracket to hood. 8 lift hood to where holes in hinge to fender line up. 9 use 2x4, broom handle or whatever you want to hold up hood. 10 install remaing bolts to hinge to finder. 11 have fun adjusting the hood to fit. This is the easiest way I have found to do it by myself.

If I can pick the hood up by myself I can put it on by myself. I have been in the body shop business for over 25 years and there was a lot of times I was working alone. I love these new sh@@ box Hondas and Nissans I can flip one of those hoods like a Frisbee. Now a hood off a '72 Buick Riviera man that's a killer. I do like like Longhorn Man I use a broom stick blankets down both fenders and around the cowl area and take my time.

i drug my whole front cap off and put the other one off by myself hood and all not that hard just gotta be determined
