Has anyone bought from AIM

Want to buy an airbag kit and was looking into the AIM kit. The one that comes out in every issue of Truckin'. Anyways just want to know if anyone has bought airbags from them or heard of anything of this company. Or who do you recommend. I posted this in the suspension forums but I'm guessing I'll get a faster response here. Thanks.

My opinion is to stay away from shAIM products. There are quite a few options out there for bags, and they "shAIM" are notorius for selling a cheap kit, that is typically not all inclusive. If it's the price that attracts you, check out *****************, or innovativeairsuspension.com, they both have all the parts you need to do the job, and will most likely be the same (or less!) money than going through shAIM. If you can stretch the wallet a bit, I can't suggest anything better than airride.com. ART makes killer kits, and is typically a "Bolt-On" installation. That goes a long way in my book, especially if you are going to be doing the job yourself and/or have limited fabricating skills.

Thanks for the info Gregg, the price does attract me but it is more the fact that it is a kit. I don't know much about airbags and want something that moves somewhat fast. I have around $900 to spend but if I can't get anything good for that price I guess I'll wait and continue to save up more money. What is the website for ART. Thanks for the help.

u can build a kit a lot cheaper than aim a frt bracket kit for a c-10 from suicide doors is about 60 bucks bags r about 50 bucks a piece,valves depends on brand start about 40 a peice, and u can make ur own 2 link or buy on from a company called ekstensive a rear kit from them is 600 but is a basically bot and weld on but for 900 u can either peice a kit together or make ur own just depends on how good u are so far on my truck i made my own 2 link for about 30 bucks all i need know is a notch and bags i bought my vavles used for 100 bucks but there were my buddys and i got 8 of them

It would be pretty tough to get everything you need to 'fast' bag your truck for less than a grand. Typically, your air management will cost a grand or so, and that will be w/o your lowering components.

Most companies that make airbag 'kits' are pretty inclusive (other than shAIM and Chassis Tech), so they include what you need. If you were to buy the individual components to bag it you can do it for significantly less than the kits, but you need to be a fabricator (or have a friend that is!) and a failry decent grasp of how suspension works. However, even just buying the components you need, I see spending in the 2k range for parts alone to do the job 'right'.

buddy of mine spent 2500 to bag it with a tank,valves notch 2 link front kit and so on which i thought was cheap but that was a ranger

Yeah, that and that I won't be able to have my truck bagged for a long time. Making the bucket 51 a lowrider with hydraulics and the works isn't seeming like a bad idea though.

Just call suicide doors, tell Jason what ur wanting to do, hell tell you what you want how to do it and how much time it takes. He's real nice and has paitence unlike AIM. I ordered my 4 like they sent it to me, bars looked gr8 and looked well made. Then I looked at the brackets and they sent me s-10 brackets for some weird size joint when I needed it for the one inch they make. The guy didn't believe me he made me take 4 pictures with a digital camera and send them to him then he didnt get a chance to look at them for 2 days then they wouldnt even give me 3 day shipping on them so it was about a week and a half before I was able to put it on. Another story about them my friend ordered his 4-link came it for his ford F-150 came in looked great tried to put it on, not even close we had to cut nearly 3 inches out of the bars to get them to work, then we got measuring and its the same link as the one they sent me so I think they make "one size fits all" Universal 4-links. Then he just blew it off and ordered tubular control arms, well they sent him the ones for the new models so we sent them back and then the 2nd time they sent them they only sent the lowers, and told him they sent the uppers because they are zip tied to each other and nothing like that could ever happen, well they finally believed him after nearly a week of pissed off phone calls from his mom, mommys are good at mean phone calls. So stay away from them far away.

Low84 What ever you do save your self some grief and DO NOT buy from AIM or Chassis Tech. There are endless tales of horror from guys dealing with AIM. They are con artist sales whores that will do or say anything to get your order, then rape you on shipping charges. They almost always screw the order up, then try to blame you for it not being right. They are known for having the worlds worst customer service.

Man, I am really glad I asked here before ordering. I was going to call today, pretty sure I would have ordered cuz quite frankly the competition here is starting to get really stiff. After last night's Sunday cruise my pride was really huting since the bagged trucks always drop them right in front of me. Two weeks ago there was only three which were the center of attention since there were none the week before. Last night there was about 7 or 8 of them. Can't really compete though to much dirty money flows around here, and now it looks like its going to be a while longer till I can drop my truck in front of their faces. Ohh well.

ground(which I did and drove all over hell 1 1/2" off the ground or you had hydros) I just don't like the stupid ass sound these bags make "tssssst tssssst" everytime you raise or lower your ride.

All joking aside, I prefer static drops for simplicity, their inexpensiveness, and reliability. Of course, I can only go so low unlike bags or hydraulic equipped rides...but you know what they say...different strokes for different folks.

and the mechanical moan that comes from the hydro pumps is much better?

i personally prefer a static drop for very much the same reasons Jeff does. simplicity, cost effectiveness, and reliability.

I'm not saying I like or have Hydros either, just saying that if I had to choose from either Hydros or bags it would definetly be Hydros !

Bags sound ike sh@t when they are in use, I mean c'mon you all going to tell me that that dumb ass air sound doesn't bother you ?

Peronally I leave my sleds on the ground where they belong, and yes even it means scraping sometimes.
