the power plant is a boeing T-50 Turbine engine used in some of the first drone helicopters that where used by the navy. Which he used a 700r4 tranny to to take hold of the some 450hp from the engine. Must read the article in Hot Rod its very interesting how it all came about

i appreciate the work and everything and i gotta admit it is kind of cool but i would have rather done it to a beater or something because that truck is just to nice to have something like that in it, that thing is prob deff going to be a trailor queen for the rest of its life. But thats just my opinion, i would of put like a 383 or something in it and made it a weekend cruiser

After working on and around jet aircraft most of my profesional life, I think it's very cool. Man, I miss that sound.

I love the sound of a gas turbine. I wish they were more practical and fuel efficient. The power to weight ratio is fantastic.

Chrysler made an attempt at putting them into production cars in the 60's and Ford put some in a few medium duty trucks. I don't know of any other manufacturers that seriously tried it.

I spent 4 years around those engines while in the Air Force and have a constant high frequency "ringing" in my ears to remind me of it -40+ years later...

Expeimentation like this often lends itself to innovation down the road that IS practical. I doubt that turbine power will ever be practical, but someday some propellor head might find something useful out of this or other projects that could be installed in other vehicles.

I say KUDOS to the dude that took the time, energy and major bucks to do this!

Thanks to all of you that liked my turbine powered truck. It was fun to do. Most guys i talked to said i would never be able to drive it because of the heat. They were almost right. After a lot of shielding and three oil coolers i can drive it on 100 degree days fine.

The reaction from people makes me smile every time i drive it. It fun at cruise nights here in Auburn. I love going to the airport to fuel.

Its is not bad at all in the cab, even with the windows down. Most of the noise is actually in front from the intake . Even the noise from the rear is not bad. Don't get me wrong you hear the truck but in the cab is OK.
