The adaptor fittings in conversion kit do not fit the '72.
Any one know where I can get the correct adaptors for the conversion?

I got my adapter from the local parts store. They carry a selection of adapters. (It is an Auto Value which is a national chain). I would think other parts suppliers would have them, also.

Mine came in a 134 conversion kit and they worked fine.

All of the ones I have converted have been the kit from wal-mart. Worked every time.

Hmm, Thats odd. The kit I got has three odd (read metric) fittings.
At this point I'll just use the fittings on the gauges. I realized the standard fittings on the gauges with all the adaptors removed screw right on

That thread is what? 3/8 NC? 5/16 NC?

I believe the fittings are 1/4" flare tubing. I did my R-134 charge last week, I put the adapter fitting on the center port of my gauges, that allowed me to use the R-134 cans through my old gauges and my stock R-12 ports.

DennyB, did you buy the kit from WalMart? I bought a conversion kit there a while back, and it came with two of the same wrong size/style fitting. I took it back and got anouther one and it worked fine. Not sure how that could happen, but it was a bit strange.

That must be the size. This is also what I'm doing (using stock R-12 ports).

No, I got them at a parts store a few years ago. The fittings in these are 3 types and sizes. The directions say they fit down to 1978.

I'm not an AC guru and have no idea when all the changes took place.

What I didn't realize before this post was the fittings fit my hoses w/o the adapters, I can evacuate and fill through the center hose, so its a simple solution. Just as CST*TEN above has done.
