ignition switch removal (how to) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK, cleaned out most of the cab I have for sale yesterday, but I am having a problem getting the ignition switch out (where you turn the key). I spun and got it loose, but something is still holding it in place. What is the trick?

Do a search for this, as I think I remember reading that there is a little pin to push, or a little clip of some sort. I can't really remember, but I am pretty sure it has been discussed before.

disconnect the battery and turn the key to the left then take a small allen wrench and go through the little hole and depress the plunger, while continuing to turn to the left and and depressing the plunger it will eventually (sometimes it takes a little messing w/) it will turn way past the Acc. position and then you can pull it out.

Gotcha, the little hole near the key insert...I was wondering if that had something to do with it. Would have had a hard time guessing about the left turn thing though. THANKS!
