350 swap help
Hey,
I am new to the whole 63 c-10 modding stuff and need some help. Recently bought a 63 chevy with a 283 in it and a 4 speed. We took out the old 283 and dropped in a 350. The 350 was out of a 68. so the engine mounts worked fine. the only problem is that with the engine bolted in there is still a gap between the bell housing and then block. whats up with that? Thanks Luke |

Re: 350 swap help
Is the converter seated properly?
Tried loosening motor mount bolts and perch bolts, then tighten the trans bolts?

Re: 350 swap help
Get under your truck and see if you can move the tork converter. If you cant move the tork converter you don't have it all the way back in the trans.

Re: 350 swap help
If the torque converter is attached to the flywheel then to the crank . . .
As was said already - the torque converter is probably not seated correctly.

Re: 350 swap help
Where did you guys read anything about an automatic tranny swap?
I read that he still has the 4 speed. That needs to be clarified! Then we can answer his question. If he still has the 4 speed it’s likely the input shaft isn’t seated into the pilot bearing. |

Re: 350 swap help
yes it is a manual 4 speed. used a clutch alignment tool beforehand. the engine is bolted up to the frame. so it should work. I think I just realized the problem. the flywheel on the engine is from when it had a t5 connected to it. is that the problem is that different.

Re: 350 swap help
Shouldn’t matter.
Should slide right in. You might need to reverse the process. Bolt the bell to the motor and then slide the tranny in place. Or hook up your clutch linkage so someone can depress the clutch to release the disc and let the tranny slide in. |

Re: 350 swap help
Some bell housings are for a 10 in. clutch. If you put a flywheel & 11 or 12 in clutch in it won't clear & leaves a gap.
