Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

I've got a factory 6 cylinder tachometer from a medium duty truck. It worked (off by a few hundred RPM) when hooked up to my 350 Suburban.
Cosmetically it's somewhat faded, especially in the redline area.
I'd like to get $30 plus shipping for it.

Do you have, or can you take a pic of the circuitry on the back?
Do you know what year it came out of?

Afaik you didn't say you wanted it. You just asked questions about it. You didn't say you wanted it and I did. Afaik, that puts me first in line.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

So that isn't showing interest in the part?
The OP didn't provide the year so I'm trying to get clarification.
If I wasn't interested I wouldn't have posted.

Once again. I don't see where you said you wanted it. Did you say you wanted it? I might have missed it.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

IMHO Joe asked a question, therefor he showed interest. This is not WalMart on black friday, therefor pissing matches over items are not acceptable. Hopefully the OP will reply soon with an answer. Until then, quit arguing over it all.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

Guys, I have always found it to be best and the most clear if you are interested, instead of just asking questions...say "I am interested, pending pics" or "I am interested if you can answer my question first".

That will avoid all confusion.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

Okay then, I would say that Liz's word would be the final say. I hope it doesn't cause any hard feelings.
I've got a few more pictures -

It says "6 CYL" on the back of the face, although it's a little hard to get a clear picture of it.

I can't really say for sure what year it is, the cluster seemed to be an oddball. It had an amp gauge which would indicate '75 and earlier, but also had an electric oil pressure gauge which should have been '78 and later. Possibly a 6 cylinder cluster didn't follow the same rules as an 8? Or maybe because of it being medium duty?
Unfortunately the last time I saw the truck it came from the cab was gone, so I can't get an idea from that either.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

an early 70's tach will have totally sealed circuitry on the back, a sort of redish epoxy. It also would not have the double wide hole in the plate. Not that it matters. this wasa rare find. crossy

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

Thanks for the input crossy, as I said earlier this cluster seemed to be a bit of an oddball. Unfortunately I didn't get the whole cluster, as the salvage yard owner wanted the oil pressure gauge left in the truck so that he could show a potential buyer how much oil pressure the truck held. I suppose it might have been a "hybrid" and been pieced together through the years.

I'd say you're right about the rarity of it, I'd never seen one for a 6 before.

Re: Factory tach for 6 cylinder engine

It's not only that Joe, anything above a 30 series truck does not follow the same as style changes go. big trucks used meachanical gauges longer and many different variations of warning lights and such. It was most likely a 292 V-6 engine it came from. either way it's good you gave the guys a heads up that it's a 6 cyl tach. crossy
