rear window area patch panel ???

Ok my paint and body guy called and found a little rust at the bottom area where the weather strip goes around the rear window in my 71 C10 cab . Any patch panels out there for that area because I am not finding anything oh and this would be for the outside not the inside. And I am impressed with the guy working on my cab he didn't want to short cut the job and just cover it up

You need to head over to the parts board:

This one specifically - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=661740

Re: rear window area patch panel ???

Might contact Tom K. in the parts for sale section for 67 to 72. I just took him two cabs one of which has a good roof. I know he's not afraid to cut out a chunk. As to aftermarket, I don't know. Sorry

What's a little rust? Do you have a picture? If it's a little maybe he can just make a small patch or weld in the area. Be curious to see.

Any body man can easily make a piece for this ALOT less than any panel you may be able to find... I am not aware of any preformed panels for this anyway...

I don't have a pic of it and its strange really every 6in across the bottom where the rubber sits it rusted maybe a 1/4in wide by 1 1/2in long spot.

I agree with you on this I just got off the phone with a guy at a local metal fab shop and he said he could bend me up a piece so I think I will try that. And the guy is a fellow Chevy guy and said he would hook me up!

Did you have a slider in there? If so, a factory one listed as an option? And, if so, was caulk used between body and gasket?

No slider and it didn't have caulk anywhere on the back window. The front have just a little in the top corners.

Re: rear window area patch panel ???

Ok, that's good. I have removed factory sliders (installed post production in factory parking lot by a vendor) that had a white caulk used that got dry and cracked. This caused some bad rust in the horizontal areas, the bottom corners being worse.
