Is this the right heater core - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

So today upon changing some hoses I got really luck and tore off a nipple from the old heater core, I've done a little research on people getting aluminum cores and others saying to go brass.

Has anyone got this brass one from autozone and it be a better fit than the aluminum ones

I used this one. Been in the Blazer for more than 10 years.

Hey Bobby , so I'm assuming you got that one from autozone? You didn't have to modify the brackets

I either got it from Pep Boys or Napa, can't remember.
It fit right in. No modification to the stock brackets.
This is an A/C core. The tubes are routed different on a non A/C heater core.

Got it, well I appreciate the reply back, atleast I know there is hope getting one local and at a cheaper price

can anyone give me some advice on how to disconnect the. Temperature cable so I can get the heater box off?

Those pal nuts can be a son of a gun, I usually just grab them with channel locks and rip them off, make sure you have a source for a new one, haven't ever been able to save them
Once you get them off, you'll see 2 or 3 paws that grip the rod. that's the problem, haven't been able to release and reuse them
