Re: sm465 gear ratios

Got these numbers off a gear ratio calculator site, so take them for what you will.

1st: 6.65
2nd: 3.58
3rd: 1.70
4th: 1.00

Not sure if you had a miss type, but to the best of my knowledge GM has never had a V10 eingine...

thanks! and it isn't a v10 engine, started in 1987 they used r/v instead of c/k so it's just a k10

Re: sm465 gear ratios

I think the original poster means "V10" to be a R/V series truck.
I think they changed the model numbers in '86 or '87 from C/K to R/V.

Anyway, welcome to the SM465 club! I have yet to find an on-road use for first gear! If 1st and 2nd were synchro, I would swap out the rear end to a 2-something ratio and drive it like a 4 speed instead of a 3 speed.

thanks! what's the rear end from the factory? right now it has 35 inch tires on it and it seems to need a little lower rear end
