Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

i started a thread on my interior a few weeks ago. here is the thread. Just stick the stuff to the bare metal and put carpet, trim, etc. over the top of it (just be sure to mark any and all holes for reassemble purposes)

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

i got it off of ebay for 135 bucks for 100 sq feet and i put 2 layers on the floor pan, 1 layer up the back, 1 layer on the door panels and i have approximately 15 sq feet left so i might put another layer on the doors and some inside the kick panels. I haven't driven my truck since i installed it but i have started it and it definately is ALOT quieter and has zero rattles now and that is at all rpm's. I am very pleased with it for the cost.

Here's three pics of when the deaner was being done in my truck for the second round of stereo mods. In these pics they hadn't finished the doors, but as you can see, the material will adhere to a painted surface. Layer the carpet padding ontop of that before you lay your carpeting and wiring.

Sound deadener material is just about one of the best upgrades you can do.
Ive only done my doors in that brown bead. What a difference that just made.

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

The padding is basic "juke" padding that you should be able to find at a home improvement store or upholstery shop.

EDIT: Dynamat makes a material (Dynaliner I think) that is very simliar to the padding I have, but weighs in at 3lbs/sq.ft. It dampens the actual sound instead of canceling vibration which is what normal Dynamat does.

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

I just finished putting 50 sq ft of b-quiet on my cab floor. I just laid my black carpet kit on top without clue just incase i needed to take it out further down the road. Also, to my surprise, i ordered a black carpet kit from stockinteriors.com to save a little money and they shipped me an acc carpet kit.

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

The biggest difference I noticed was when I did the inside of my doors and inside my door panels. I had already gutted the doors (no glass or window regulators in my way) and mainly just wanted to see what would happen. All I can say is wow.

I used the cheapest stuff I could find, "Peel-n-Seal" from lowes. Less than 15.00 per roll and soo far have 6 rolls worth of it in my truck.

ONLY my.02 worth.

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

The doors and the floor pan will make the biggest difference.

Re: sound deadener !!HELP??

i found this article while researching sound deadeners...it does A LOT of testing and has some recommendations
http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/conclusion/
it stated Second Skin http://www.secondskinaudio.com/ was the best quality and RAAMmat BXT http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi was the best value

i havent used either one4 of these products myself so i cant confirm, just passing the info along
