Looking forward to Saturday morning! New exhaust!

Taking my 65 up to a friend's place. Used to do exhaust work full time but now just on the side. Does great work. Plus I always help so it's done exactly as I like. I have a 454/th400 with long tube headers. Going with 2.5" all the way back coming out behind the rear wheels but tucked up a little and angling down a little. I'm going to use Flowmaster Super 44s and an H-pipe. Can't wait to hear it rumble! I'm anal about my exhaust. I'll post some pics while I'm under it.

Re: Looking forward to Saturday morning! New exhaust!

Nice. I know flowmaster is a popular choice, and I don't begrudge anyone picking it, but there are so many other great sounding mufflers out there I wish people would branch out more.

Personally I went with some Borla mufflers, having had Flowmaster 40's on the truck. After the switch I'd never go back.

In any case I'm sure it'll be to your satisfaction. Post up clips with the new system!

I'm just a Flowmaster kinda guy. I've just always liked them and put them on everything I've had over the last 25 years.

I have flowmasters on my '36. Sounds freaking incredible.

On my 64 I was on a tight budget so I went with Summits drag mufflers. Basiclly a knock off flowmaster. I'm very happy with those as well.

Nothing wrong with that and didn't mean to killbuzz your excitement. Just wish there was more variety out there is all . Would make the flowmasters more unique as well.

Re: Looking forward to Saturday morning! New exhaust!

This weekend I'm helping a friend pull his headers and 2.5" pipe along with some kind of coffin shaped chambered mufflers so he can go back to ramhorns with 2" pipe and Brockman's. It goes to the muffler shop on Monday and he's pretty excited about it too.

No problem man! I hear what you're saying. I've always liked the Borla systems on the newer Corvettes, Camaros, etc.. I'd like to hear some on a setup like mine but at $135 a muffler, I wouldn't want to take the chance. Well, I'm going to finish up my breakfast and head out to work on the exhaust!

Glasspack fan here, can't beat that tone IMO. PO had flowmasters, so I kept them until they go bad or I fix everything else. Flowmasters sound good though.

Sounds like he has The Coffin Muffler (http://thecoffinmuffler.com/) on it. They are supposed to be pretty good mufflers and they cost a pretty penny too. Unless they are roasted, I would probaly hang on to them after you switch the exhaust.

Re: Looking forward to Saturday morning! New exhaust!

Yep, those are the ones. He got them with the truck. They have an agressive tone to them, but are mufflers you need to run with over the axle pipe and a lot of sound deadener in your cab. They have a snarly rasp to 'em
