Clip the entire roof or just the inner/outer skins
Just wanted to get some opinions.
I have a 68 ex-motorhome that has a nasty hole cut in the back of the cab as well as the roof. I know I can cut all the spot welds and finally remove the skins but I think it would be much easier to just cut the a pillars and across the bottom of the cab. I would have a whole lot less visible bodywork needed that way. I can cut and weld so that's not the problem, I just don't want to do more work that I need to. My cab is 100% rust free or I would just replace it. I have a donor that has rust in the rockers/floor so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Chime in. I know there are some old production shop body men out there. Here's a pic of Homer;

If I were faced with that I woild probably do exactly what youre thinking and cut it at the pillars and at the bottom rear of the cab. The issue with that is getting it all lined up so the gaps are correct again bit its almost just as bad doing the skins.

That looks like one heck of a project. I gotta agree with you both though. I think the less visible the better.

You could always build a crewcab. Been wanting to find a 68 motorhome chassis for that exact purpose without cutting up a "good" truck.
