String Alignment method
I finally got around to aligning the truck Before I take it to a shop.
I used the string method that was detailed here on another thread. It real easy to do.  I had my son hold the steering wheel tight while I made the adjustments. I'm kinda curious how close I have it before putting it on a machine. |

after years of doing this stuff its a good way to get it close enough to safely drive to the front end shop but unless you have sliding plates under the wheels its hard to be accurate because the wheels will pull themselves to try to keep straight.

Yeah, I thought about that while adjusting the coolers, and had the son turn the wheel back and forth an then checked again. After getting the same measurements three times, I called it good. We'll see I guess

Here in PA I'd never pay for an alignment. The roads are so bad it would be knocked out of alignment in no time. I just eyeball it and adjust after driving if it's twitchy.

Last time I did that the alignment shop said it was dead on
One this I did was drive the front tires onto a piece of scrap laminate, approx 10 x 12"Smooth side down then the tire doesn't bind on the concrete floor. A piece of sheet metal stock would prob also work.

After reading this, I'm going to use the smooth surface method, and check it again. I have plenty of sheet metal that I can use.

I just aligned mine on my smooth garage floor, to reduce tire friction I placed a double layer of plastic sheeting under each tire seemed like zero friction. I wired 1" square sticks to my rally wheels to measure toe in, drives great now
