Can I (should I) stick a 68 clip 'n' cab on a 71?

Hi fellas! So, here's the situation: I was browsing Craigslist and found a cab and front clip for a '68 C/10, and the guy only wants $400. Mint condition, from what I can tell in the pictures, and has shaved door handles, a frenched antenna, a smoothed filler neck hole, and all the supports as far as radiator support and whatnot, but it doesn't have wheel wells. The passenger vent window is there, but that's the only glass in it. (Could I just yank the doors and glass off my truck, or are they different?)

It definitely needs painted - bad. But I can do that, I have a HVLP gun, just need to get my big air compressor running and do some practice on old tin or something.

As far as what all interior is in it, there isn't anything but a brake pedal. I could strip the guts of the 71 cab (minus the gauge cluster) and stuff them in there.

Here's part of the issue: the cab has a low center hump, and the one currently on my truck is a high hump. What will that affect? Also, will mounts be different? Another issue is how hard will it be to pull the cab and clip off my truck and install these, then install all the interior stuff and attach everything to the firewall? Could I just replace the front clip and leave the cab alone alltogether?

As far as I know everything will interchange, the only differences being. The emergency brake lever on older models were replaced with a brake pedal. The steering wheel is different. Maybe upholstery on the seat? I think the front cap and hood will bolt right up. The glass and everything else is the same. Just put the front clip on there and go. There might be something in the electrical system that changed trough the years but I'm not sure of what it was.

I just read where you will also need to use the 67/68 radiator support bushings

A/C and non A/C cabs are different where the heater box and/or A/C box mounts to the firewall on the PS.

You can trace the high hump hole in your cab, cut out the hole in the new cab, mark and drill the holes, and bolt the high hump cover on the new cab. You can get fancy and weld the nuts to the floor after you've pre fit everything.

That floor pan thing is a pretty good idea. I never thought of that. We may be rednecks, but we have one thing a lot of city boys don't have: ingenuity.

The only real problem I see if you use the red cab is titling issues since it'd be a different vin tag. But if you use your own cab the 68front clip should bolt on without a problem if you use the advice in the posts above mine.

Not only that, the fenders have been ruined as well. Look at the leading edge, completely different than stock. Looks like the DS door has a huge dent in it too. It also appears to me he welded the cowl to the A-pillar and the top of the fenders. You may want to pass on this one...

That cowl 'modification' may be more hassle than it's worth. The stacked headlight thing is pretty unique, though. That there's no title, that's another potential headache, too.

I don't know about the fenders being ruined, I kinda like how they look (but I really want those marker lights back...), but the grass is creating an optical illusion making the door look dented.

As far as the cowl being welded to the fenders and A-pillar, that wouldn't be that big of a deal. If I need the fenders to come off, they make this thing called an "angle grinder" that would do the job lol

You can tell it does need at least one cab corner, though, and I have a feeling they're both missing. But, you can get those for fairly cheap.

Could I just take the vin plate off my '71 cab and replace it on the '68 cab?
