Cable vs. Linkage Operated Shifters

So I'm in the market for a new shifter for my '71 C10. I tried Googling an answer, but I couldn't seem to find much pertaining to C10's and TH350's, but I want to ask you guys about and pros/cons between cable operated and linkage operated shifters. I plan on taking my truck out to the strip a few times here and there just to mess around, but it won't be a hardcore drag truck or race car. Daily driven, SB350 putting out about 400-450 HP. I love the Lokar Nostalgia series double bend shifters (mostly for the rat rod feel), but I have no idea which setup would be right for my application. Any knowledge and/or opinions, or even other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Re: Cable vs. Linkage Operated Shifters

If you're doing any track time you will need a shifter with reverse lockout. To me... A shifter with a long shaft will be awkward when racing.

Thumbs up Re: Cable vs. Linkage Operated Shifters

Depending on how much racing you actually do will detirmine if you should use cable are linkage. I personally would use linkage for any type of racing.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

My buddy has one on his Monte Carlo, I thought they only worked well on cars since they're so short. I had a B&M Quiksilver on my 64 Chevelle and it was one of the best shifters I ever had!
