swaping heating-ac for cleaner look

Has anyone ever swaped heating and ac setup from newer trucks for cleaner firewall look?? I thinking of trying 73-up or80up which doesn't have the huge evaporator box up front. I relise the air intake is located different but if your not conserned with fresh air it would recirculate interior air for heat and ac..
Just woundering if this has been tryed before.
If some one would post a few pics of the front view firewall showing different year setups it would give me some idea of possability
Fab work is easyer for me than buying expensive kit

Most people just go with something like Vintage Air, its super clean & works great from what I hear

Re: swaping heating-ac for cleaner look

73 up Chevy trucks still have the evaporator under the hood. it was not until 88 that they moved it under the dash. IMO, the best idea would be to use one ofthe aftermarket AC systemsdesigned for the 67-72 trucks. Trying to adapt a late model AC would be too much hassle.
