Fuel sender

Has anyone purchased one of these from Dolphin? Mine has a large spring with it, not sure where it's used

This is what I got, spring in the middle. There's a water temp sender to the left of clocks, where's that screw in? Thanks

Re: Fuel sender

Well, looking on their website sure isn't any help. I'd just contact them and ask.

Re: Fuel sender

The "water temp sender" should screw in the top rear of the head. On the drivers side above the rear intake port. If you have a valve cover with 4 screws, it will be beside the rear left one. Assuming you have a straight 6, since you haven't given us much info.
As for the spring ???? There wasn't a ball with it was there? Could be part of an anti back flow device. Most fuel tanks have a ball in the neck of the tank that, will close it off if the vehicle flips to prevent fuel pouring out.

Re: Fuel sender

Ok thanks Hogger I'll have a look. Just been told the spring came with the gauges not the sender

Re: Fuel sender

Yoshi
Temp sender either goes in the head between spark plugs 1 and 3. If not you can screw it into a coolant port. On the pic of your engine they are on the front of the manifold

Re: Fuel sender

Head temp is more accurate, when I moved mine from intake jacket to head the gauge read about 10-12 degrees higher.

Re: Fuel sender

Will the float fit? The sender is universal and you have to cut it to size. See dolphin site for instructions

Re: Fuel sender

Pictures would be REALLY helpful.
That plate is supposed to be too big, so your sending unit doesn't fall into the tank, and has a way to be secured to the tank. Set it in, line up the holes and secure it with the screws.

Almost sounding like a troll.

Re: Fuel sender

Yoshi
Or email me some pics of your tank top and show what doesn't fit. Is your tank stock?

Re: Fuel sender

May seem like a dumb question but could you possibly be looking and the opening for the fuel lines? I believe that opening is smaller?

Re: Fuel sender

As you can see its a little bit bigger 2 3/4" compared to the tank hole which is 2 19/32. thinking about it I'm gonna remove the plate with the holes in it & reduce it a little so it will fit in

Re: Fuel sender

The hole in the picture is for sending unit that is held in place with a twist lock type ring, not screw mounted unit. Google "twist lock sending unit" to get an idea of what they look like. I have no clue what the application is or will work.
