Not the best way to make a short out of a longhorn
Was headed home from work and some guy tried to make the old truck shorter

Man, that totally sucks. He must of hit you at a pretty good speed. Hope everyones allright. Was the back window knocked out by your heads. Always think about that not having headrests on the bench. Did the gas tank leak any? Looks like it even got crunched good. Again, hope everyones allright. Jim

I was knocked out. (perfect head indention just above the back glass) I went to hospital concussion and whiplash and seperated ribs on left side. Gas tank took a heavy hit it is flat as a pancake where I was sitting as I am fairly good size 6'1" 240ish police said he hit me at about 40-45mph I was stopped at a stop sign he never slowed down pushed the old truck about a block and a half right in front of a police car. Old truck was still running when I came to it also pinned both doors shut so they used jaws of life to open driver door.

Man that sucks! Take care for a few days! I hurt my back and neck really bad but didn't know it until the next day. My injury wasn't a from a wreck, I twisted my upper torso 180 degrees hauling some carpet up my stairs to the 3rd floor. I woke up the next morning and couldn't walk and I hurt like Hell! You should really get an MRI at least on your neck, that looks like you got hit hard. Good luck and start hunting for a new truck! Hopefully the old guy is okay and had insurance!

Dang! That really took a beating! You know a lot of people think our old trucks (and old cars) are really safe because of all the real steel they were made with, but you just can beat a new car or truck for being safe in a crash ... Maybe even a Smart Car lol.
Course that doesn't mean Ill ever stop driving the old steel =) Glad you came out alive ... Get a good attorney that specializes in auto accidents. Injuries from this type of accident can creep up on you later.

Glad you're ok! The old trucks are built well, but that really translates into "good at transferring the energy of the other car directly to your body". You can see how deformed the "new" truck is while the classic doesn't.
I've heard people say that when they know they were about to be rear ended (while stopped), they let off the brakes. That helps the truck, I suppose, but is actually the opposite of what you want if preserving yourself is the goal! I'm almost curious if there's a headrest option that doesn't look -too- out of place.

They say things happen for a reason while in the er from this they did a ct scan because they thought I had internal bleeding. Well they found a spot on my right kidney. Long story short had part of kidney taken out and it was stage2 cancer. Doc says they got it early enough another 5 to 7 years he said I would have been in trouble so My old truck sacrificed itself for my well being I guess.

glad your ok, wish you were closer to me, we could load that truck on my frame machine and pull her back into shape really easy. I also have a couple of extra parts trucks laying aroung that might have had the cab back. That happens when I am out in the middle of nowhere. I am so far out in the country, I get Monday night football on Thursday afternoon. Good luck withe the truck, once again glad you werent hurt. Jim
