Looking for pictures of SWB with a newer 88 and up bed

Hello all,

Looking for pictures of SWB with a newer 88 and up bed.
My local bone yard has a few 92 SWB step side and fleet beds. He will let them go fir 100.00 w/tailgate. The bed on my truck is toast.

Also, will a newer bed fit? I'm sure a few modifications to mounting brackets will be nessary.

If you go to the Google Search box at the top of this page and type in "late model bed" then click on the circle in front of 67-72chevytrucks.com and click on the Google button you will get quite a few hits on it. It will include all years of trucks so you may have to watch that.

Previous owner put this on. I was just going to swap beds, until I found out how much a fleetside bed costs. You are looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500- $2000 if you can find one, and then probably another $1000 for body work and paint if you are able to get it done reasonably. The late model stepsides can be picked up fairly cheaply and many are new enough that there is no body work needed. I am not really making an arguement for using this style bed, as I would really love to put the proper bed back on mine. I think this isn't a bad option if you don't have a bed, and can't afford one. It'll get you back on the road.

Love the blue paint and Cragar wheels. The late model beds are great available alternative to rusted originals however the look isn't for everybody. I've said it many times that if the wheel arches were rounded on the late model beds to match the front ones they wouldn't look so out of place. I have a rusted stepside bed needing a good bit of work or replacement. I have considered a late model bed myself. Still undecided.
Here are some members truck pics I have saved. I don't know who's is who's so I cannot give due credit however. Take a good look at the orange one with the rounded wheel arches.

I always found it fascinating that the late model stepsides have a better matching body line then the stepsides that came on the trucks originally lol

By far the best looking version I have seen! It really makes a huge difference with the rear wheel arches matching.

what about fleetside? I never liked the look of step sides. Beds are so dang expensive for our trucks. Will a latemodel fleetside fit? I just searched and theres 100s of pics of latemodel steps.

You could make it fit I guess, but the body lines would not match at all. It would look like one of those late fifties to mid sixties Ford wrongbeds

The reason some guys choose to do the sport side box is because the lower body lines area so similar.
