Dana 44 Tie-Rod connecting link

The center connecting link between the 2 outer tie rods on a Dana 44, is it solid bar or tubing? I am planning on building a custom one with an integrated steering stabilizer mounting point, for my 72 Burb has no provision for it, except using the u bolt clamping set-up. I was planning on using 1.25" cold rolled solid round bar. What are your thoughts on this vs maybe DOM tube. I already have some of the solid bar, but no DOM tube. Thank you in advance
