Steering box problems, plz help.
Tonight when we were taking the cab off We were attempting to pull the steering wheel shaft and we quickly realized we had done something wrong. Our plan was to pull the box front cap off with the 4 bolts and just bring the steering wheel shaft through the firewall.... bad idea... we got it loose and threaded it out and it was held by whatever force of mechanics that was in there, we screwed the shaft screw back in and just removed the entire box and steering wheel and brought it out the front.... The problem is this.. .
When we were turning the steering wheel after we put the box back together it would turn left then tighten, then it would turn right loosen up and tighten again. I dont know if we did not set the flat head set screw back right, or if we dropped bearings or what, but it honestly felt like it was still threading as apposed to turning the wheels, any help would be awesome, I know there is a way to adjust the box and maybe we just boinked it up alittle... or maybe we really screwed up (no pun intended) we never cranked on it at all, never used any massive force trying to crank it down. Has anyone ever had an experience like this? Or maybe know what the problem is?
