At least, and the 17" wheels had to be around $2,000 or more with tires. The $5,000 doesn't sound right at all but I'd sure love to own it. (not much fun though knowing that someone else built it)

I know right. But I've been talking to him through emails, he has two coming to look at it saturday, 3 if i show up. 1 from houston and 1 from round rock. I'm just hoping they don't have the funds for it right now and would need to get back to him. Because I've got it.

I think I'm gonna call on this one tomorrow if he still has it, this one I think is worth a plane ticket to Austin and a ride home with a rental to tow the new purchase! If it has AC I'm gonna crap myself I think.

I've never seen this truck personally, but I know someone who has, and another who's going to look at it on saturday. story is...its a mechanical piece of #$%^ that some guy put a nice surface paint job covering tons of bondo with a nice rusty undercarriage.....and sold it to some kid that doesn't know where the oil goes!!!!! The guys only had the truck for a few months and now he's already selling it??? Wonder why???
If it sounds too good to be true....it probably is

Either that or you are trying to help out a friend who is trying to go look at it and you are trying to turn away buyers. I'll make sure to take a magnet when I go on saturday. Because if it was such a big pile, why is your friend going to look?

I emailed him about the truck. He said he bought it from a dealer and still owes "around $3000" on it. Said girlfriend kicked him out, and he can't afford the $300/month payments.

My old grandpappy use to tell me " boy, if it looks too good to be true it probably is". Of course, he was talking about my grandmother but when i got older i found that there are very few things truer than this.

I dont see how ANYONE could sell a truck that has that much money into it for 5g's, especially when they are hard up for cash like this guy claims to be. If the truck is as nice as it looks then i would think all he would have to do was mention to a buddy or a coworker that he was thinking about selling it and it would be gone. I know that in the few weeks ive had my beater ive gotten half a dozen offers on it already and so it leads me to think that if no one this guys knows will pay 5k for it then theres probably a VERY good reason.

then again ..... you never know. Someone has to get lucky sometime i guess.

Drum brakes, no AC hmm

The paint job alone had to be at least 3 or 4 grand by itself, if the motor runs good and the tranny is in good shape, the truck would probably be worth the nearly 5K for the rims/airbag system/drivetrain alone, then you can gut the interior for the good bits, even if the body is a bondo pile the 5K is probably still not that bad of an investment IF the motor and tranny are solid, if the rear is posi trac/etc.

My wife came home the other day "there's a truck up by mom's for sale just like yours only finished" so I went to take a look. Looked good as we pulled in, popped the hood - no AC not a deal braker of course but just a big check against. 350 motor, forgive me I'm a big block fan, again no deal breaker, a solid 350 is nothing to scoff at. Clean interior. Started looking at the paint.... Lotsa rust underneath the pretty blue paint, bottom of the doors, behind the rear wheels, the spray on liner was looking like it might have quite a bit of rust underneath... I gave it a pass didn't even call to see how much they wanted.

Guess I'll keep working on mine, big block, factory air, no real rust on the inside, some on the outside in the normal spots.

Here is a reply that I got from the guy selling the truck, after sending him an email about going to look at his truck.

"A body shop owner from Uvalde contacted me about buying the truck to
advertise his shop around town. I told him that I had quite a few people
interested so he offered me $8500 cash so I had to jump on the deal. I get
to pay off the remainder of the loan and also a couple of credit cards. I'll
be pretty much debt free."

Im in the process of restoring my truck and one thing that boggles me is ..... why would you put such an expensive paint job on a bad body?

When i took my cab off the frame my body guy gave me my options and it seemed incredibly stupid to paint it in its current condition so i had them take the cab down to the metal and ended up replacing both doors and had it all done right. It just didnt make any sense to spend big $ on a paint job if you know it wont look good when it is done or that it would need to be redone in a few years because of too much bondo but i guess not everyone sees things the same as me.

yeah thats kinda what i figured. If you have a truck that looks that good then the people around you would kick your butt for not selling it to one of them for a price like that.
