Post How do I take it apart?

Ok. The tranny is sitting on the workbench. I've taken the 6 bolts behind the torque converter out, and can't get any farther. Whats next? Its the 700r4 that 2nd went out on. Thanks for any help. Jeff.

the pump is press fit into the case, either get a slide hammer puller or screw bolts into tthe two threaded holes and attach some kind of something ot them to pull pump out of case, removing the valve body first is reccommended, you are going to want to keep the tranny pointing tail towards ground during disassembly, or,......

Or you could take a clean piece of plywood on the floor and, holding the tranny case tail up, gently pick it up and smack it down on the floor. Pump and all will fall out.
The proper way is to look for the two bolt holes in the iron pump that are threaded and thread two slide hammers made of allthread and weights in and pop it out.

two of the holes have threads in them, you use those to screw in bolts to pop it out. use a slide hammer

Ok, I threaded some bolts into the housing and have moved it about a 1/4 inch. Does anything have to be removed before it will come out? Does it need to be in neutral? I don't get it. Thought it would have popped out. LOL at the plywood and drop it gently idea. Should have thought of that first. Thanks, Jeff.

I'm still not getting it to come out. Seems like its stuck in there. Even tried dropping it like duallie suggested. No luck. I've removed all the stuff under the covers on both sides of the tranny and no luck. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Jeff.

No, I got nuthin but a brain the size of a peanut. I'm beating my head against the wall here, but I don't want to pay the tranny man 1200 to tell me its something stupid. Am I doing something wrong? Should I take something out from the pan side? I am at a loss. Might go over to the parts store and see if they have a tranny manual.

Red71,In order to take front pump out you have to take off valve body and your gear selector everything in this area has to be removed before you get pump out.
Be sure to note were your check balls are located. Then screw two boltsin pump and use a slide hammer to remove pump.(check balls are under valve body).
