Where is the hinge adjustment at the body or at the door? And rockers or doorskin 1st
Hi, my Jimmy has light rust compared to what I've seen but i want to replace rockers and lower door skin. My gaps are pretty good and just put on new body mounts so was hoping to tack in panels using surrounding panels as reference... But I think it would be easier to replace the lower door pieces off the truck. Please confirm my memory that there is adjustment in both the hinge at the body and at the door, correct?
Secondly, if you were in my shoes, would you replace the rocker panels using the lower door Gap as a gauge before I removed the doors? |

Once that's done, set the gap between the door and 1/4 panel and make sure the gap at the windshield header and door look good. Once that's done, weld or bolt a stiffening bar to hold the header in place. When I did my truck, I put a couple bars from the seatbelt bolts to the top of the windshield header. Only after these steps are done should you start cutting out the rust. You can then use your door to locate the rockers. The doors are indeed adjustable at both the door and A pillar (body) If your body mounts and rocker boxes are already in good shape, then you may not need the stiffening bars. Pics would help. |
