What you got done this wk end?

Well, I only had 2 hours of day light and my 67 is 2 hours away so I made the best of it. I decided to make the change to internal regulator alternator instead of the old style, It wasnt hard at all. We had to take an impact and get the old pulley off since it had a spacer. I noticed even my dome light is brighter now, also no rev it up, the lights get brighter stuff either. I had just went to HEI on my 6cy 292 and though it was running the hot wire to it hadnt been wire to the dash yet, got it done and noticed my back up light switch was unplugged, got lights to come on but not through switch, (another thread) then I flushed the radiator, nasty stuff that looked like snot came out. Nothing too exciting but my 67 is getting some updates.

I'm glad someone is working on their truck, I haven't touched mine lately. Just can't get motivated, but that's another thread.

Did some sanding on the 70. Just tedious crap, but it has got to be done. Probably do some more this afternoon while the kid is at school.

Re: What you got done this wk end?

Finally got it running with the key. After a tedious rewiring job, no more hot wiring with the start button.

In the process, I've started so many other projects that It seems like I'll never get done. So I am going to finish up the on going projects (probably 6 months) and get it together and start driving it. Seen a thread yesterday and the majority ruled - get it together, drive it and enjoy it.

In a previous thread I submitted, I was asking if anyone knew what the G1 and G2 pins were on the ignition switch. The pig tail wires are 2 brown and 2 green (each socket has 2 wires). Someone suggested they may be ground wires. If true, where would they get grounded?

Well, I split & stacked some more firewood...

Oh, you meant on the truck? Nah, it just sat there resting... poor thing was probably tired after hauling a few loads of wood.

Re: What you got done this wk end?

Yahoo! With the help of a friend we swapped the motor in my '67 from a tired 283 to a fresh(er) 350 with a sm465. A few little details still, but it's alive and running, so I'm pretty happy.

Re: What you got done this wk end?

Didn't do anything this weekend, but last week I:

took out radiator
took off old headers
took out old motor
put serpentine system, plugs, wires, dist, water pump, ps pump, alternator, ac on new motor
installed new ignition box
new waterproofing around both doors
relocated washer fluid box
installed 3000 stall
new forged 383 stroker in
sanded and painted radiator
new shocks all the way around
new lowering coils all the way around

Still a long ways to go but it's getting there. Should be driving it tomorrow.

Re: What you got done this wk end?

Saturday was sunny so my wife and I spent most of it going for a cruse and a picnic lunch. We went to Ladysmith a small town south of where we live and had lunch at Transfer Beach which is located in Ladysmith as well. I attached a couple pic's of the beach and our 70' GMC.

esll.

Re: What you got done this wk end?

Friday evening I installed the last of my LED sidemarkers in the truck. Saturday i managed to snap the back axle in my go cart

Dad put the body on the frame earlier this week and i went to town tearing the dash apart. The body is finally back on the frame after being separated for more than 7 years!!

Installed my Super Trackbar from Early Classic. That resolves my missing Axle mount issue with my leaf spring rear end!

Re: What you got done this wk end?

spent my 4 day weekend putting a 3.07 posi rear in my 71, everything went well, no more screaming engine on the highway, and hopefully a little extra traction in the weather this winter. new wheel cylinders, new brake lines, painted the diff., all new grade 8 hardware.

Next time don't pull the tank Seriously, there's a pretty good amount of material on rust thoughout the threads. Do some searches, you'll find good info.

I rotated the tires on my daily driver and thought about stripping down the front suspension of my truck... then it started to rain and I watched the races instead. :P
