I am looking for some idea on where to mount the 3 gauge panel. I don't want to cut the dash up any more than it is. I thought about removing the heater control face plate, but it isn't very wide. Any ideas or pics? Oh ya I have had it mounted to the dash under the ignition switch, but I can't see it very well when I am driving.

I don't know how nice you are wanting the interior to look but I have seen some guys mount those gauges on top of the dash pad somewhere in the center of the dash. Very easy to see any time. Wouldn't be all that hard to fab an aluminum bracket or box to put them in. I never did like them mounted under the dash.

I think it was at brothers trucks that they have a replacement dash pad that has 3 gauge pods built into the pad in the middle.

Thats a nice bezel but my screwed radio hole is being filled by a new sony lol. Thanks for posting. I want to look into the brother dash pad, that sounds like it would work nicely

Lucky, I think the idea of doing something different than using the same old 3 gauge cluster under the dash is cool.. I dig the fact you are wanting to do something different. But if you ever want to go the old school way.. I have a few old Stuart Warner guages and old gauge clusters.. They are way old school and from the 60's. Let me know.. I live just up the street.

So I tried sticking my existing gauge pod upside down on top of the dash, wasn't diggin it. It would work in a pinch but IMO looks generic.

So here is my next plan

Think she will fit? It looks like it will be tight , I might need to remove some of the material from the inside edge of the bracket. LMK what you think

As a matter of fact, I was thinking about this the other day too.
But this idea is just for 1 gauge: If truck is not an a/c, get an a/c vent ball housing & mount it in the origanal spot & put a gauge in there. I'm not sure about the i.d of the housing but i bet you could make it work.

Hey Lucky....

The PO hacked up my dash, so I cut a template out of the diamond plate and put my gauges like this....

I know your radio hole isn't an option. But for those that do not want to cut the dash yet install a two hole panel this works great. As no need to modify the dash. A nice piece of polished plate and a little thought makes a decent spot. If you make it a three hole panel you would have to cut the stock radio hole to the radio shaft holes in the dash.

Oh how it pains me to go back and look at my old truck but you can kinda get the idea of what I did with the original bezel and only had to cut the steel part with a hole saw nice and neat looking.

If you look at the bottom left side you can see the gauge there was 4 of them in line 2 on each side.

I really like the idea of modifying the dash cluster, can I cut holes along the bottom? I don't have the 6 hole dash. If I can't cut my own holes, I don't really want to buy a whole new panel

Yup, looks like crap but so does the rest of the truck.

I thought about doing that with my dash cluster but it looks like they are not readily viewable.

If I were to redo them in that same spot, I would cut a plate out that fit the hole perfectly then cut the holes for the gauges, then weld the plate in the hole, throw some bondo over it and paint then install the gauges.

Oh and if you look closer you can see how the PO destroyed the radio slot.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
