Gonna be puttin a stereo in my truck soon and need to sound deaden my cab, gonna do the firewall, floor, back wall, and the inside of the doors. How many cubic feet do you guys think i will need? And what is the best deadener to use? Ive seen Fat Mat advertised on Ebay for a pretty good price, is it any good?

Re: Best sound deadener?

I don't have any experience with Fat Mat but I have used and been very pleased with Dynamat. Hope this helps.

Re: Best sound deadener?

Here is an excellent site on sound deadener. This guy went way overboard but if you are a true audiophile you will appreciate this. I am going to pick up some of the RAMMmat BXT60 for my truck when I am in St. Helens, OR this summer.

Re: Best sound deadener?

I used Fatmat in my truck and my estimate is you need about 75 square feet for an entire cab. (My cab is currently 100% empty.) I bought from Fatmat
100 square feet for 100 dollars, I cannot speak to its effectivness yet, because my truck is not finished. The sound of the door closing sounds much better after the install.
