Re: 88-98 door handles in an 84 chevy

I saved this picture off e-bay. Man I would love to do this to my truck to get another facotry part that doesnt belong and looks slick.. but man around here.. houston.. 8/10 of the 88+ newer trucks have damaged sheeetmetal where jackof s have tried or broken into the trucks... I would be at a loss for actions if i did that to my truck and someone jacked up the door to get in...

so you cut the handle out of the 88 and weld it in the 80s model? I kinda figured thats what was done.

that's my opinion too. I have seen newer (200-2005) Impala, buick, etc. oval style door handles on our trucks and they look real good.

You can't, they won't fit. There isn't enough room inside the door at that point. That is why you always see the below the body line which looks kinda

Re: 88-98 door handles in an 84 chevy

Kinda going backwards aren't you - both inside and outside handles on the '88 - 98's are cast "potmetal" junk. EVERY one of these trucks I've ever owned broke at least one handle, most of 'em break both!

Re: 88-98 door handles in an 84 chevy

Thats a good point about them breaking. I just dont like the handles that are on it now. I kinda dont want to shave the handles but just worried about reliability.
