so i'm looking to invest in a quality yet reasonably priced set of headers...and im really wondering if ceramic coated is the way to go...what do you guys think?

Ceramic in my opinion are the only way to go, painted headers once fired up pretty much burn right off and end up rusting and looking like crap, which is ok if you dont care about how they look, The other advantage to Ceramic is they help keep the heat out of the engine compartment vs painted.

I've been happy with the one's in Bill's signature too...only, they're not REALLY the "one's in his signature", they are mine, just, like his...

The Dynomax Jet-Hot coated headers are the way to go man. Full length, great price, don't discolor, don't peel, don't hurt the components around them...they are a really good buy. Used them on this, and my dad has them on his '86 1-ton 454.

I think I'm gonna run the Hedman Elite headers. 3/8" flanges, ball-socket collectors, 14 guage tubes, full-length, and ceramic coated for $265.99 from Jeg's or Summit.

Take a look at Sanderson for headers or manifolds. http://www.sandersonheaders.com
I recently installed a set of their cast exhaust manifolds, jet hot coated and certainly not cheap. However the freggin flanges on these things are 3/4" and that's what sold me. A very beefy, solid piece of equipment. Tomorrow morning I will take some pics and post for you.

After careful consideration and further research i think im gonna go with the dynomax's in Bill's sig. Mostly because we both live in southern california so hopefully i can find his truck and take them off in the night without him knowing.
That way, i CAN have the ones in his signature...heh heh heh. Seriously though
im going with the dyno's...best bang for the buck as i am a poor college student. thanks for all the help!

Take a look at JetHot's website before you decide to go with ceramic from someplace else. Not much more money and a way better warranty.

As all the post indicate, if you want the headers to look good, then get some form of coating. I have not had any success with painted headers looking good. I just bought Hedman's for my truck, and the paint started to flake coming out of the box. My two cents worth, the coating is mostly looks, for permformance and fit, read the posts for a good brand of headers. A couple of years ago, I purchased a good set of "cheap" 50-50 headers. They looked good setting still, but when the car ran, 50% of the exhaust went out the header, and the other 50% came out around the flanges. Money spent, lesson learned.
