rear brace fabrication after tank install

I took these pics during the installation of my rear fuel cell this past weekend.
I'll remove it once It is properly located to clean up the frame appearance

I removed the rear brace support to clear the tank. I am considering the fabrication of another brace to go between the frame rails or can I just run without anything there?

I plan to run a rear roll pan so I am not concerned about the rear bumper brackets. Is there anything else I should be concerned about back there?

Thanks!
Joe

I would weld in a substancial (spelling?) brace back there. If you get rear ended, especially with a roll pan, you have zero protection around that tank. If it was my truck, something would be in there.

I used a chevy luv tank and mounted it under the rear. I had to remove the rear brace but I went back and built a hidden receiver hitch which basically replaced the brace.

That is one of Mark's tanks (FuelCellGuy)

I am interested in putting something there for sure.
If memory serves from the teardown, I won't need any of those holes in the side of the frame for anything. Can I just box it in with no problems?

Does anyone have a link or a pic of a hidden hitch for these trucks?

Thanks.

I have the stats at home, but I believe it is a 17-18 gallon tank.

Texas 68 -
The tank hangs 3" below the bottom of the frame rail and 3.75" inside the rear of the frame rail.
I took a look at my notes, and I have the 7" 16 Gallon tank from Mark.

I was in the same situation as you and I ended up getting the rear brace from Dave at ECE also. Worked out great.

Nice piece as usual from ECE. Now to prime/paint or have it Powder Coated to match the frame
