February 2012 TOTM
For our first 2012 Truck of the Month (TOTM) contest the theme is:
UP! Since it has been a while with a focus on this group, our theme for this month will feature our 4x4 trucks. Let us check out the criteria or rules in order to compete in this month’s contest.
To Nominate: You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the year of the truck, and any other specs of the truck (interior details, engine/drive train specs) that you may want to provide. Nominees will run through January 24. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. I normally use 1 picture showing a good front-side view and 1 with a rear view of the vehicle in the voting threads. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up by January 25 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of February 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the afternoon of February 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

Re: January 2012 TOTM
Finally! I've been waiting forever for one I could enter in.
2002 Chevy 2500HD CCSB Duramax Diesel. 2in leveling kit running 305 Toyo M/T's. Hauled goosenecks the first 8 years of its life but still hauls ass. Stock besides the lift when I got it, slowly making it my own. I'll try to take some better pics and switch them out at some point, kind of bothers me that the best I have has a post in the middle.

Re: January 2012 TOTM
I am nominating this 1987 Blazer, which belongs to my pal here:
4x4chvy The black truck and the red truck are the same. The black was with the rusted out body, the red was the full body swap body, which will one day be painted black. The details about the truck : It meets all the quals, but you know my truck ain't *fancy*, it's a old mudtruk/werktruk, not a pavement princess. You pick the pitchaz you like. I hate the red. I was in love with my truck when it was black, with the red body.......not so much. '87 Chevy K5, 350 V8, NP 208 xfer case. 3" body lift, 8" Skyjacker suspension lift, 38" RADIAL Interco Super Swampers. DONE RIGHT and DONE SAFE, no plastic blocks, no hockey pucks, no cheap-ass lift kit or re-bent springs. Brake lines, steering column, driveshafts - all custom lengthened for the lift. Drop Pittman arm and Steering recurve arm added to steering system compensate for the lift. Tranny & xfer case dropped & rears tipped/shimmed to compensate for the lift. All Grade 8 or better hardware and polyurethane bushinnz. Everything else has been modded to insanity. Custom pretty much everything: Axles, tranny, rear ends (4:56) headers, no cats, Flow Masters. Blah blah blah. Lemme know if you need more mechanical details. Iz justa mud-monster/tow beast, never meant for showy-floofy-poofy stuff. Roof is 86" from the ground Top headlight, center, is 53" from ground (most states, even ones with allowable lift laws, only allow 52" max) http://www.Liftlaws.com Drivers Floor is 35.5" from the ground Top of front fender is 61.5" from the ground. Rear frame rail, lowest point @ bumper is 30" from ground. Other reason it's not legal in all but 4 states anymore: Front tires DO stick out beyond the fenders (duh, it's 4wd) I refuse to put giant ass mud flaps that come 6" from the ground. No emission crap - so it won't pass. ----------------------------- The photo with the work/delivery truck and the tow strap... the story: the blazer pulled the flatbed out, which was stuck. yeah, chevy baby! like a rock! -W Last edited by Woogeroo; 01-17-2012 at 07:11 PM. |

Re: January 2012 TOTM
Here is my 62 K10 Suburban.
Picked up my burb in Grants Pass Oregon exactly a year ago. Trailered it back, reworked the brakes and have been on the road ever since. It is in great shape, really straight body with no rust and runs great. The original 283 was replaced with a crate 350 a few years ago by last owner. Right now I am working on bringing it back to original. I have all 3 rows of seats and I just found the original fabric from SMS auto upholstery, with forum help of course . I will be going with the original Crystal Turquoise Poly with Cameo White two tone and changing rims and tires back to original in the near future. All that with a few things here and there along the way but love just enjoying it and all the incredible support and insight from members on the forum. Thanks, Burbluv (AJ) Last edited by burbluv; 01-17-2012 at 01:20 PM. Reason: sp |

Re: January 2012 TOTM
I'd like to add my Blazer:
1972 K5 350 w/alum heads, balanced and blueprinted 700R4/205 t-case Locker in front and 14 bolt FF in rear w/ 4.10's 4" lift and 33X12.5X15 tires This truck has been a labor of love for me, from welding in floor pans and rocker panels to checking clearances on the main bearings everything was done at home except for final paint and redoing the seats. It now serves our family and helps us get to some harder to reach places!
