2 tone stepsides and body trim?

Did they do a two tone paint on stepsides? Also I have always thought the trucks with the trim running down the sides made for a really clean look.. But have never saw it on a stepside, Im guessing that wasnt an option?

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

I have never seen one or heard of one, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Most I have seen is the white top with regular body color and no side trim.

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

side moldings were not available on step-side trucks or truck models that end with 03 or 04. Example, CS10704 (shortbed, 6cyl, stepside). The top part of the cab could be painted white but the deluxe two-tone or type-C was only available on fleetside models (ending with 34).

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

71-72 Deluxe Two Tone (i.e. white on top and in middle) has the same rule as posted above for the 69-70 Special Two Tone scheme (white on top and below the lower belt line) - i.e. available on fleetsides only.

Conventional two tone (white on top only) and Custom Two Tone (select group of two non-white colors with one on the top only) are allowed on stepsides.

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

The cleanest look is solid color with no trim. It defines clean, you're just looking at the body in it's truest essence. The body lines and profile speak for themselves with no distraction. Trim would never work right on a Stepside/Fenderside. That's why GM (or any truck mfgr) didn't do it

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

my 67 stepper has the wite top with orange body and ony the paint divider trim on it.
but i have seen people add the 67-68 trim on their steppers but it only goes as far as the cab.

Trim on half the truck? Not sure that would look right

I think Michael is talking about the trim on the cab that wraps around the back window. Like in this picture.

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

Only one I had ever seen with side trim was on 67Chevyredneck’s truck that he made up . Still hard to believe he’s not with us anymore

I knew I had seen one truck with that done before. Thanks for the reminder that 67Chevyredneck is still missed greatly.

I've seen at least one 67-68 with the custom cab trim only on the cab. Do not like it. My truck is a custom cab but all the trim holes will be filled when the bodywork gets done. I will retain the trim around the back of the cab and do the roof in another, lighter color though.

Re: 2 tone stepsides and body trim?

'67/'68 cab & chassis trucks would have the side trim, but GM stopped there.
