Just arrived: 1972 K20!

After a long search for a 67-72 K20 LWB I finally found one. Just arrived off the transporter from Wisconsin about 15 minutes ago.

The truck was purchased brand new by the Burnett fire department as a brush truck and I purchased it from them. They added a warn winch on the front and some sort of heavy duty bumpers in the front and rear. Tailgate is missing and there are a few holes in the bed floor and dash board from their equipment. There is also some rust where the cab floor meets the rocker but it's got only 12,648 original miles, original paint and the original brakes!

I am sure I will have a million questions over the next few days.....took me almost 5 minutes to figure out how to turn on the wipers in the pitch black - these things didn't come with interior lights??? :-)

Unbelievable!

More pics please!!! You could create a "How To" book for the rest of us poor saps with photos as it must look about the same as when it rolled off the assembly line.

Ok, I went out to the truck and turned the knob and magic - the interior light that I didn't even see in the dark turned on!

Looks like I need a new knob for the wipers - that one just spins....

Thank you! I am so excited.....

See... there are some holes in the dash from their equipment and the truck beeps like a school bus in reverse - guess they forgot to remove their back up siren

It's a main power switch - i've looked at a few ex fire department trucks in the past and they all have that exact switch somewhere in the truck. My guess is because the fire trucks have so many electrical devices they install that switch so the equipment doesn't drain the battery?

Here is the glove box - not even a radio!!

Cogratulations on the clean find. What are your plans with it? It kinda seems cool enough as it is, just drive it and enjoy it.

There are a few issues that need to be taken care of before anything. Although the truck was used little - it was used year round and there is some rust in the rockers which need to be replaced. Also there seems to be some play in the steering box - need to look into this. Also needs a tailgate since the original was removed at time of purchase for their equipment and sold/lost.

But once it's road worthy I actually wasn't sure what to do with it!
What do you think about a 4" lift?
