70 c10 grill question

I'm looking at grill options for my 70 c10... was wondering if the 71 or 72 grills fit on the 70 without much modification? seeing if anyone else out there had done that. thanks for the help

'71-72' grill will fit. You'll need the 71'-72' grill support and hood latch. You'll also need a '71'-72' bumper for the turn signals unless you run them behind the grill. Not sure if the earlier turn signal harness is long enough to reach the '71-'72 bumper.

The harness is long enough because the 71 72 turn signals have 6 inch pigtails on them.

I`ve done the opposite the way Sinister described.The`71 turn signal harness reached the grille.I imagine the 69/70 harness would reach the bumper.My`71 tow truck w/push bumper has the original turn signals screwed to the top of the grille,mounting them behind the grille in the upper outside corners.

I put a '71 outer grille on my '70. I didn't need the grille support hood latch from other truck. It bolted right in. I mounted my signals to the radiator support (same location as stock just behind the billet grille.

The hard part is getting to the little handle to pop the hood.

thanks for the help...has anyone know anything about getting the grills polished? mines a little scuffed and dull and was looking into that as a more economical route.

The surrounds are hard anodized.It needs to be stripped and then you can polish.I`ve heard that oven cleaner does a good job stripping the coating (w/o creating scratches).

You didn`t need to change the center support because you didn`t use the factory grille

You can make a handle that will allow you to put your hand under the bumper and pop the latch. I used a wooden broom stick instead of metal for two reasons, thats all I had at the time and it will not beat up the back side of my grill. I know pics pics will put it up when I get off work.
