533 Paint
Would like to see some pictures of a fresh repainted 533 1971 GMC truck. Surely somebody has some!

Re: 533 Paint
Could be helpful to also state what the color name is.

Re: 533 Paint
Not a GMC but it is the 533 in standard 2 tone and a fancier 2 tone.

Re: 533 Paint
533 is the single code for the conventional two tone combo in pic 1 (518 green body and 521 white roof). There is no 533 code associated with the 2nd picture - the only commonality is the same 518 medium green and 521 white components are present - but it's a different code altogether for the deluxe two tone combo.
EDIT: As I re-read this, I don't think 518 was a primary component of 533 conventional two tone code. I believe the conventional two tone RPO code for a 518 pri body color truck would be 548 and only available in 71-72. Then again, I could be totally off my rocker, but just wanted to update in case I mis-spoke. Anywho.. pretty sure 533 was GMC-only by 71 (to OP's question) and I don't know which green its primary body color would have been. Could be 503, if GMC was still doing 503 in 71 (Chev wasn't), or it could be 512 or 518. There, I'm a lot of help... Last edited by jocko; 01-03-2019 at 10:51 PM. |

Re: 533 Paint
CG, I'm not sure where I found that pic, I have saved tons of truck pictures over the years and they all were on the inner-web somewhere!
Jocko, I think I used to know that, but I've forgotten most of what I used to know! Rg

Re: 533 Paint
I love that 2nd truck as well! But... What paint code is the dark green(512) with the white 2 tone? Then it would be white top and center dark green body upper & lower?

Re: 533 Paint
For 67-72, 512 is a 1970-only color and wasn't available in the "Deluxe Two Tone" (white top & middle)
Code 512 is Solid: Dark Green (metallic) Code 533 is Conventional Two Tone: 521 White top / 512 body Code 599 is Special Two Tone: 521 White top and below lower belt molding / 512 rest of body |
